"I choose to paint the subject matter that I do because it is what's ingrained
deepest in my memory." Monroe is the product of the era he paints and the small
town where he grew up. He remembers the enticement of nature being more
alluring than the crowded cities he visited. He chooses to depict the nostalgia of
the times we once had: the simplicity of life we so enjoyed.
