William K. Bailey was born and raised in Arizona, attended Northern Arizona University
in Flagstaff, and moved to Houston, Texas in 1972.
Artistically he was completely self-taught until his teenage years when he scored high
on a talent test and subsequently took a correspondence course from
The Famous
Artists School:
(their "Course for Talented Young People").  However it was only six
years ago  when he started teaching himself to paint with watercolors- partly because
he had been told by other professional artists that it was "the hardest medium to paint
in", which seemed like a challenge to him. He took six semesters of a watercolor
critique class at the (Museum of Fine Art- Houston's) Glassell School of Art, three
semesters of which were through scholarships awarded for merit by portfolio review. In
2003 he was honored by being invited to have a one man show in the Upper Gallery at
The Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts- Houston. His watercolor paintings are
in private collections in California, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Idaho, Texas,
Oklahoma, Indiana, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Washington
D.C., New York, Ontario Canada and Copenhagen, Denmark.
